Position

This role will drive NorthStar’s calibration program and develop and execute preventive maintenance and calibration activities for instrumentation equipment, including but not limited to flow meters, level sensors, temperature and pressure sensors, servo motors, and robotic equipment. The role will support maintenance, engineering, quality, safety, and operations teams to identify, document, and control instrumentation and electrical (I&E) equipment used in NorthStar’s cGMP‑defined areas within a 24/7/365 manufacturing environment. Additionally, the role will lead the logistics of outsourced calibration activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of calibration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties related to industrial process instrumentation in GMP manufacturing, utility, radiation, and laboratory areas.
  • Drive the coordination of external instrument and device calibration service providers as needed.
  • Perform instrument validation as required.
  • Draft and execute Preventive Maintenance and Calibration SOPs as necessary and document all activities via work orders in a CMMS as necessary.
  • Assist in tracking GMP equipment for calibration and PM activities.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Escort, provide direction to, and oversee onsite calibration services to ensure the quality of calibrations and documentation.
  • Participate in and lead investigations as necessary. Administer events, deviations, and CAPAs as required.
  • Work at heights, climbing ladders, stairs, operate manlifts and boom lifts to include industrial material handling equipment and maintain certifications for this equipment within the facilities.

Early Development

After 3 months you will:

Become familiar with NorthStar SOPs and WI's and align with NorthStar's Mission. 

Be coordinating planning and scheduling of calibration activities with NorthStar's calibration partners. 

Be fluent in navigation of NorthStar's asset tracking software. 

 

After 6 months you will:

Leading continous improvement initiatives for NorthStar's calibration program.

Be empowered to recommend internal metrology prioritization. 

Work with management to recommend capitol budgeting for the calibration program. 

Qualifications

Technical Degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or a related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience within a regulated environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years of laboratory or field metrology experience required. Lock Out Tag Out and PLC programming experience is preferred.

Shift Information

Primarily 1st Shift M-F while supporting 24/7/365 manufacturing environment and participation in NorthStars Facilities Maintenance Standby Program.

Working Conditions

 

This role may involve working in a controlled cleanroom environment, general office setting, or specific manufacturing areas. Conditions may include:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, both indoors (heated/air-conditioned spaces) and outdoors
  • Noise levels range from quiet to loud, depending on the work area
  • Specific vision abilities, including near vision, visual acuity, and color discrimination

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and may include:

  • Respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and full protective clothing
  • Compliance with cleanroom gowning protocols (e.g., removal of all jewelry, including piercings)
  • Prohibition of cosmetics, fragrances (perfume, aftershave), and nail products, including polish, artificial nails, or extensions

As a radiopharmaceutical manufacturing site, radiation may be present in the laboratory and production areas. Employees in this role may be required to:

  • Follow strict radiation safety procedures
  • Participate in dosimetry monitoring and bioassay testing as part of the company protocol
  • Inform leadership of any health conditions that may affect product integrity, by cleanroom standards
